Our Aim
The leading cause of deaths in India is due to cardiovascular disease, amounting to 35%. This is estimated to double by the year 2015. The incidence of Coronary Heart Disease was estimated to be 1% in the year 1950 as compared to 15% in 2005. Hospital admissions due to heart diseases about 30 years ago were 4% whereas it is 35% now.
Coronary Artery Disease affects Indians at an young age. 7% of the rural populations in south India are affected with heart disease compared to 4% of North Indian. Similarly 14-15% of the urban population in South India are affected compared to 10% in North India.
The chance of an Indian getting a heart attack is 4 times higher than an American, 6 times higher than an European, 7 times higher than a Chinese, 20 times higher than a Japanese or a South African black
India has the largest number of heart patients in the world today. It has been estimated to be about 5.7 crores. Less than 5% get proper medical care and follow-up treatment. The remaining 95% get sub-optimal treatment due to lack of awareness or lack of affordability.
Heart attack is predictable and preventable. We are a developing country. Instead of focusing more on hi-tech equipments required for bypass surgeries and angioplasty where the cost is enormous we can prevent heart disease by adopting the following:

- Proper Medication
These simple methods can prevent heart attack in 95% of the patients.
